By accessing and using AuthorScrolls ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
AuthorScrolls provides automated manuscript analysis, editing suggestions, and AI-powered writing tools. The Service is provided "as is" for educational and creative purposes.
You must create an account to use certain features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.
You retain full ownership of all manuscripts and content you upload. AuthorScrolls does not claim any rights to your creative work. We do not store, share, or use your manuscripts for training AI models.
Paid subscriptions (Starter, Premium) are billed monthly through Stripe. You may cancel at any time. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis within 14 days of purchase.
You agree not to: upload content that violates copyright; attempt to reverse-engineer the Service; abuse API rate limits; or use the Service for any illegal purpose.
AuthorScrolls is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to lost data, lost profits, or publishing outcomes. AI-generated suggestions are advisory only.
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

We collect: email address and display name (via Firebase Auth); manuscripts you upload (stored in Firestore, encrypted at rest); analysis results and version history; usage data (pages visited, features used).
We do NOT sell your data. Manuscript text is sent to AI providers (Anthropic/OpenAI) for analysis but is not stored by them or used for training. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe.
Your manuscripts are stored as long as your account is active. You can delete your data at any time from your account settings. Upon account deletion, all data is permanently removed within 30 days.
We use HTTPS encryption, Firebase security rules, and server-side API proxying to protect your data. API keys are never exposed to browsers.

AuthorScrolls uses artificial intelligence (specifically Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's GPT models) to provide manuscript analysis, writing suggestions, and creative feedback.
When you use AI features, excerpts of your manuscript (up to 15,000 characters) are sent to AI providers for processing. This data is not stored by the AI providers or used for model training. We use prompt caching to minimize data transmission and costs.
All scores (Overall Score, Engagement, Clarity, etc.) are generated by our proprietary algorithms and AI analysis. They represent one perspective on writing quality and should not be taken as absolute measures of a manuscript's worth or publishability.
